The short answer
A compilation is a financial statement service in which a CPA presents your financial information as statements in a chosen framework and issues a compilation report under SSARS AR-C 80. It provides no assurance — the CPA doesn’t verify the information.
Accountant’s Compilation Report
A compilation presents management’s information without assurance. Prepared statements carry “No assurance is provided” on each page.
Three ways
All three are CPA-prepared. They differ in the report and disclosures.
Statements prepared under AR-C 70, marked “No assurance is provided” on each page. No report.
Statements with a compilation report under AR-C 80.
A compilation without full notes, when your reader doesn’t need them.
